WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL

Mr Smithard_edited.jpg

Keith Smithard MA Ed.-Headteacher

I am delighted to welcome you to the Aboyne Lodge School website. My hope is that you will find it both informative and useful, and that it will give an insight into our lovely school.

What really leapt out at me when I first came here was the positive feeling you get when you walk through the door. It’s a feeling that is hard to put my finger on, but the warm sense you get when you come here is something that lots of people comment on when they visit, and it’s a feeling that stays with you. Located in the centre of historic St Albans, we are very much a village school in the heart of a city.

Our excellent staff work hard to make the school the best it can be which enables our pupils to genuinely enjoy their learning and progress well. For details of our latest results please visit our Statutory Info page.

You can find more information about the school within this website, as well as lots more about what we do here, and what makes us unique. In 2024 we were listed in the Times as one of the Top 500 State Primary Schools in England. We very much welcome visitors – if you would like to come in and see what we do here, please book an appointment with the office and I will be delighted to show you around.

OUR VALUES

At Aboyne Lodge we have lots of enriching experiences, inline with our values, enabling our pupils to be creative, curious and caring in everything they do.  This helps us make sure that when they leave us, the children are well equipped for the next stage of their educational journey.

CREATIVE
CURIOUS
CARING

Being creative allows our pupils to solve problems openly and innovatively. By having  the opportunity to use their creative side, our children become more absorbed in their learning and more driven to achieve their goals.

We encourage our pupils to embrace their curiosity. Curious people always ask questions and search for the answers. Curiosity is key to learning - when we're curious about something, we are much more likely to remember what we have learned.

Caring is about kindness, concern for others and taking responsibility. Our caring ethos means that our children get the best possible start to their education - they are respectful, hard working and look after each other.
