WALL OF FAME
Here we celebrate the achievements of past and present students of Aboyne Lodge.
Superb Swimming
Nancy (Y5) took part in the recent club championship swimming galas swimming for City of St Albans (CoStA) she won 3 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronze over breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke and individual medley. An amazing achievement.
Winning Author
Thea (Y1) was shortlisted as a finalist in the Reading Zone Create a Picture Book Competition 2023, and was chosen as the Winner of the Young Creators Award with her story, Princess Alice and the Fossil Hunting Competition.
This is a fantastic achievement and Thea has won £100 of books for the school - very well done!

Ballroom Champion
Mariia Mariia Y6 competed in the intercity competitions of Ukraine in ballroom dancing in 2021 and took 1 first and two second places in different categories. A fantastic achievement!
Local Cricketer
Neerav has recently started playing for St Albans Cricket Club, picking up 2 wickets and scoring 25 runs in their latest match.
Excellent Singer
Cassia entered the Watford Music Festival and came joint second place in the 12 and under novice competition for her singing. She would like to thank her singing teacher Miss Dias for helping her learn her songs and for coming along on the day to support her.
Player of the Year
Finn has had an outstanding season at St Albans Youth FC, winning player of the season in his first year with the U11 team. Very well played!
TV Actor
Amelie (Y6) has been in a number of different TV shows (some of which haven't come out yet so we can't say what they are). She has enjoyed acting for a long time and it is something she really enjoys. Well done Amelie!
Super Gymnast
Florence (Y3) came 1st overall out of 54 girls at The Dolphina Winter Wonderland gymnastics competition in Watford.
Irish Dancers
Cassia (Y4) and Pearl (Y3) both attend the Louise Walsh School of Irish Dancing, and performed brilliantly in the recent class feis (this means a competition, pronounced ‘fesh’), with lots of first places, top three places, and both taking home the Championship Cups for their respective age groups, plus Cassia as joint winner of the “Most Potential Dancer” trophy.
Many congratulations to both children!
Synchronised Swimmers
Phoebe and Emma (Y5) swim for Hatfield synchronised swimming club. As part of a team of 7 they won the U15s Hertfordshire County, placed 3rd in the East of England region and also competed in a national event at the Olympic aquatic centre in London.
Goodnight Mr. Tom
Jonah Y5 was cast in the starring role as William in Goodnight Mr Tom which took to the stage at the Abbey Theatre, St Albans.
September 1939. William Beech, a young boy from an unhappy background, is evacuated to live with reclusive widower, Tom Oakley. The relationship is difficult at first, but gradually the unlikely pair form a warm, devoted attachment. Will makes friends, including Zach, another evacuee, and finds happiness for the first time, until he is summoned back to war-torn London by his abusive mother.
District Footballer
Jocelyn (Y5) has been chosen to be in the U11 girls District football team - a fantastic achievement! She is one of 16 girls selected from 13 primary schools in St Albans. She will be playing in attacking midfield- her favourite position! Well done Jocelyn.
The trails were watched by Teyah Goldie from Arsenal ladies team and U19 England captain. It was amazing to see the impact of a female role model on all the girls. Teyah is a local woman from London Conley.
St. Alban's City Tournament Champions
The St Alban's City Tournament is a prestigious football competition with 144 teams taking part. 1642 players were involved this year and over 1600 spectators watched the teams from across Hertfordshire and beyond play against each other. Hugo and Evan's team, St Albans City Youth, came out as champions (after 5 years of trying). Congratulations to the both of them.
District Swimmer
Peggy, who swims for the City of St Albans Swimming Club (CoStA), competed in the St Albans District Primary Schools Swimming Champs and qualified for the District team. She only just missed out on the top spots coming 5th out of 26 participants in the Year 6 girls 50m freestyle. She also gained a PB, coming 6th overall in the Y6 girls 50m backstroke.
One of Europe's Youngest Taekwondo Black Belts
Sienna (Yr 4) has achieved her black belt in taekwondo. At only 8 years old she is one of the youngest to achieve this in Europe.
Black belt is the 10th belt
Her final grading. consisted of a theory exam including Korean terminology, various types of sparring, patterns, board breaking, pad work and fitness, all of which she completed to a high level.
Sienna has trained at Palcic Taekwondo club in St Albans since she was 3 years old and showed great commitment and dedication, training all the way through both lockdowns both independently and via zoom.
Cathedral Choristers
Finn and Max joined Alby as Choristers at the Cathedral in January.Until then, they were ‘probationers’, which involved him attending rehearsals and Evensong before and after school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and singing at the service on Sundays. As fully fledged choristers they will attend even more services along with recordings, concerts and, further down the line, international tours! Both families are incredibly proud of Finn, Max and Ably. Hopefully everyone at school will get the chance to hear them sing one day!
UK's no.1 U9's Girls Sabre
Jocelyn started fencing at Aboyne as part of the PDFA outreach programme in schools. She has continued her fencing outside of school at the PDFA Academy, she has worked so hard in training and in 2021 is currently ranked No.1 in the UK for U9’s girls Sabre!!
County Cricketer
Evan is part of the Hertfordshire County Cricket Development Programme and represents the West Herts Area Team. Evan was also the top scorer for runs in his team all season last year, and his team were unbeaten in their league.
TV & Media Success
Tom Walden, one of our former students, went down the path of Television and Film, working on large projects such as "The Man From UNCLE", the live action "Aladdin" as well as Television Programs such as Jamie Oliver, Lego Masters, Hunted, and Jeremy Vine.
Currently he is a freelance VoiceOver Artist having done work for J.P Morgan Chase, Pfizer and Dunkin Donuts, a Production Coordinator for an International Legal Documentary series, and a public speaker to Universities and Schools about working in the Media industry.
